The Future of Artificial Intelligence in Legal Education, Research and Practice

This session will explore the impact of artificial intelligence on the legal profession. Possible questions to discuss include:

  • Does the future of AI mean robot law professors, robot law librarians, robot lawyers and robot judges?
  • Does the law sufficiently regulate AI, for example, legal liability stemming from heavy drone traffic?
  • Will robots write or propose new laws?
  • What's left of the human lawyer to do that technology hasn't already taken over?

To help us shed light on these questions we'll be accompanied by a three-person panel comprised of: 

  • Professor Heidi Brown (Director of Legal Writing at Brooklyn Law School);
  • Mikhail Jacob (a Ph.D. student at the Georgia Institute of Technology); and 
  • Dr. Mark Riedl (an Associate Professor in the Georgia Tech School of Interactive Computing and Director of the Entertainment Intelligence Lab).
